What Is It?

This Isn’t Even My Final Form is a showcase for trans, intersex, and genderqueer people to express emotional truths to a receptive audience. Interested allies and members of the community alike can explore some of the different ways to experience life in a world where gender isn’t always black and white.

How Can I Help?

This Isn’t Even My Final Form is seeking essays and monologues for our upcoming Dec 2022 showcase!

Submissions should be no more than 1500 words and address a topic regarding the author’s unique trans experience, with any stage direction included not impacting the total word count. We are only accepting work from 18 + trans and non-binary authors, and specifically encourage BIPOC and disabled trans and non-binary authors to submit. All essays and monologues submitted will be performed by either a trans actor or by the writer themselves.

Our goal for this show is to bring the realities of being trans in the current political, economic, and environmental landscape to a visual medium. However bleak the current moment is, we also encourage pieces that reflect our joy, love, resilience, and beauty.

The submission, editing, rehearsal, and presentation process will include several points at which trans authors and actors can collaborate with each other and also the community at large.

All proceeds of the show will be donated to the Transgender Law Center, and authors and performers will be given the opportunity to share their personal fundraising links during the show.

Please email your submissions of no more than 1500 words along with a brief bio to TIEMFForm@gmail.com by midnight Sept. 25, 2022. Documents should be saved in .docx or .dot format and should exclude the author’s name. Final decisions will be made by Oct. 3, 2022, and any requests for edits will be made shortly after submission, to give writers as much time as possible to revise and resubmit.

This Isn’t Even My Final Form does not retain any rights to pieces submitted. In the event that your piece is accepted elsewhere by a publication that does retain rights to your work, please let us know by sending an email to the above inbox with the name of your piece in the subject line.

Depending on the number of submissions, some pieces may be accepted into future This Isn’t Even My Final Form productions. Authors accepted into later productions will still be welcomed into the TIEMFF community at the time of acceptance, and will be given the opportunity to participate in workshops and rehearsals.
